So, I saw “The Dark Knight” (Chris Nolan’s sequel to “Batman Begins”) on Saturday.
[On my own, ROFL. Not Ally's kind of movie, Rob was in Wales, Rich was at a festival,...]
One word: Awesome.
IMO, it’s knocked “Batman Begins” off the “best Batman movie ever” and “best comic-book movie ever” perches.
Forget “Spider-Man”, “X-Men”, “Iron Man”, “Superman”, etc… “The Dark Knight” is *the* comic-book movie.
Christian Bale is again excellent as both “Bruce Wayne” and “Batman”, while the late Heath Ledger gives an amazing performance as “The Joker” (topping Jack Nicholson’s from Tim Burton’s “Batman”). Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine are brilliant as always; while Aaron Eckhart is surprisingly good as “Harvey Dent” / “Two Face”. And “Donnie Darko’s sister”, Maggie Gyllenhaal, was IMO much better as “Rachel” than Katie Holmes was in “Batman Begins” (whenever I see Katie Holmes, I cannot help but think “Irritating Dawson’s Creek girl”).
Great story, great action, great characters, great movie.
I want to see it again…
