I’ve been with I-Web Solutions for my web hosting since 2004.
However, due to various problems (such as unexplained downtime last weekend, an apparent total lack of support or communication, the mysterious closure of their support forum, etc.), myself & many others have since changed hosting. [For more info, see here and here]
Because I had originally registered smokingmirror.co.uk via I-Web, instead of doing it myself directly with a Registrar, I also had the problem of trying to regain control of my domain name. Luckily, I was able to get Nominet to change the IPS TAG for me, so I could take control & transfer it to a different Registrar. [Cost me £10+VAT though...]
I’ve taken out a web hosting package with Ghoti Web Hosting, run by CF member Mr_love_monkey.
Not only has he offered former I-Web customers who are at CF a price-match etc. for what they previously had, but he is also extremely helpful.
He walked me through, via MSN, how to perform a complete backup of my site, straight to his server, then he restored it & sorted everything out at his end. Very easy. Much better than having to upload *everything* from my PC to the new server, then piss about installing WP & CPG again & restoring the databases etc.
All working well so far
