Weekend in Scotland

Ally & I spent the weekend in Scotland, in Helensburgh, near Loch Lomond.

Drove up on Friday, & got back Monday evening.

The weather sucked ass. Very odd. Rapidly see-sawed between bright & sunny and extremely cold, wet, & windy.

Fucking lovely place, though.

Didn’t do much Friday… just went for a walk along the riverfront at Helensburgh, & ate at the hotel (Innkeeper’s Lodge…not bad, food was just pub food though).

Went to Loch Lomond on Saturday. Gorgeous.

Went around Loch Lomond shores. Almost hired bikes, but didn’t think we’d get the money’s worth as we were unlikely to use the whole 4 hour hire time. Plus it started pissing with rain again.

Went to Balloch Country Park & Castle. Very nice.

Drove up along one side of the Loch, stopping at various places, then back up the other side.

Curry in Balloch on Saturday night (Golden Star). Tasty, although my fingers are still *yellow* from the garlic naan.

Dumbarton Castle on Sunday. Cool view. Piss-take entrance fee though! £4 for that, when it’s free to go wandering all over the excellent “Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park”???

Then went to Glasgow.

Better than I had expected.

Didn’t have a lot of time there, & mainly just wandered around the shops for a few hours, before going to get some food.

Very good weekend :)
