So, went back to Mum & Dad’s on Friday 23rd December.
Went out that night, to the “Railway” pub, with Rob & Ben.
Didn’t do much in the day on Christmas eve.
Christmas day was nice. First one I’ve had with Mum, Dad, & my brother in a few years.
Went to the “Eight Bells” pub with Ben, Rob, Graham, & Tim H on Boxing Day.
Ally drove over on the day after Boxing Day, Tuesday 27th Dec, & we went back to Cambridge.
Spent that night at Ally’s, plus the whole of the Wednesday & the Thursday. Went back to mine for a short while on the Friday morning as Ally had to work that day. Went back to Ally’s the Friday evening.
Out on that Friday with Ally, to her TKD Christmas party. Back to Ally’s.
Saturday 31st Dec, New Year’s Eve…Ended up staying in that night, just me & Ally. Nice night though. Watched a couple of films, drank lots of alcohol.
Still at Ally’s on the Sunday. Didn’t do much.
Both went into town on the Monday, then back to my place.
Back at work on the Tuesday, 3rd Jan 06. Saw Ally again that night, after WingTsun (went on the Tues as there wasn’t any training on the Monday).
Usual stuff from then onwards. Work. WT on Mon & Wed each week. Saw Ally each Tuesday evening/night & whole of each weekend. Badminton on Thursdays again from last week (2nd time was this evening). Also been to the pub on each Thursday with my housemates.
Work’s been very busy. Too much to do, not enough time, not enough staff. Going insane from that plus my boss.
House sucks.
Still not finished.
Still no washing machine. Still no lounge.
Also now have no kitchen, as the hob has gone & the units have been removed (as new ones will be fitted…at some point when my landlord gets round to it).
No heating or hot water since Thursday last week. Landlord installed a new gas boiler himself. Which is illegal. And also not a very safe thing to do. At all. One of my housemates contacted CORGI, the HSE, & Transco. Got Transco to come out Thursday last week as a housemate thought there may be a gas leak. Transco determined that there was a leak, which was “Immediately Dangerous”, so disconnected the gas supply, turned off the mains, & turned off the boiler.
Then the next day, last Friday, the HSE got back to my housemate. They said everything had to be left as it was ’till they sent someone to investigate, as it’s a potentially criminal matter (it is illegal for someone who is not CORGI registered to install a boiler themselves or do anything gas related themselves…badly done gas work, boiler installation, etc. could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, exploding house, etc. etc.).
So we have to wait for the HSE before we can get a CORGI person to come out & fix the leak & check the boiler etc.
Plus the landlord is being a complete twat.
Very unreasonable. Threatened to kick us out as soon as he can etc.
All because we complained about the state of things, & how we are not having a proper live-able house at the moment, with the gas stuff, the kitchen, all the disruption etc. from the building.
Housemate checked stuff out, when researching the whole CORGI thing before contacting them. He went to the CAB, & the Council’s Tenancy Relations office, & a soliciter, etc. Basically, the landlord is in the wrong. Violated the tenancy agreement. Violated the law.
But he can kick us out still, with 2 months’ notice, once the contract has been running for 6 months. 6 months will be the end of March. So 2 months from that will be the end of May.
But we’ll be going sooner than that. The housemate who looked up all the legal stuff has now got so pissed off he’s going asap, & has been looking for places already, thinking of going at the end of Jan. My other two housemates are now also looking, & are thinking of going in Feb or March.
So I’ll be going too.
Currently planning on getting somewhere with Ally. She’s getting pissed off with her house (bitch of a housemate), so we thought we may as well look for a place together.
Will be good 
But a lot of hassle to sort out.
We’ll be in Dublin the 1st weekend of Feb, & New York the last weekend of Feb (:D ), so will have to try find time to look for somewhere between that or in March.
Then there’s also the worry that the landlord won’t return any of our deposits.
And also the worry that he may illegally kick us out early, or even change the locks. He’s a cunt.
Also had someone from the Council’s Environmental Health dept. out today. Checked out the house, amazed we’ve been putting up with it. Said various things are dodgy.
I’ve taken lots of pics of the house, at different stages in the nightmare. Will try & get round to putting them online at some point.
