Busy Week…

Hmm.

Went to the Strawberry Fair the Saturday before last. Was OK, although I left after a couple of hours ‘cos my hayfever got bad. Didn’t end up meeting up with Tim as he turned up too late. Went out on the Saturday night with work people again, as an old workmate was back for the weekend, so we all went out with her.

Really busy last week.

Work was busy pretty much every day. Had a monthly review of my warning thing with my manager & the MD on Friday. Went well, they see no problems at the moment & think I’m achieving all the goals/requirements they set for me.

Went to WingTsun every possible night last week – Monday through to Thursday – instead of just going to the standard 2 lessons. Did that as I wanted to get as much training in as possible before the grading seminar at the end of the week. Quite good, did a lot of stuff, & we really focused on all the stuff we’d need for the grading.

Went to the pub with LLoyd after WingTsun on Tuesday & Wednesday, & met up with a few work people after I finished WingTsun on Thursday.

Stayed in Friday night. Didn’t really do anything.

I was planning on going into town on Saturday afternoon. However, when I went downstairs to the kitchen in the afternoon, I found it had been flooded by the fucking washing machine. Bloody door had opened part way through a cycle, & it had gushed shitloads of water all over the floor. Spent a fair while trying to get rid of as much of the water as possible with one of my housemates. Couldn’t be bothered to go into town after that, too late.

LLoyd popped over Saturday evening, to do a bit of last-minute WingTsun practice. After which, we went to the Pig to meet up with Richard & Karen. Didn’t get pissed though, as I didn’t want to be hungover for the WT grading Sunday morning.

So, Sunday…grading day. Got up at half 8 – I *hate* getting up early, & I especially hate getting up early on a Sunday. Left for the gading seminar just before 10. It started at half 10, & went on ’till half 4 (with an hour’s lunch in the middle).

Long & tiring day, yet lots of fun. We did the form, dan chi, & lat sau in the morning, which is what we were getting graded on. The afternoon was spent doing some other lat sau type stuff with the examiner, plus he gave a talk & a demo of some things.

Then we got our certificates – I now have Student Grade 1 in WingTsun :)

Next grading will be in three months. There are 12 Student Grades in all, so it takes three years to do those, if you grade every time possible. After that, if you stick with it… many years of working your way up through the Technician grades, and then the Practician grades….

Work wasn’t too bad today. Busy, but managed to leave on time. Could be hectic tomorrow though.

Went to WingTsun tonight. This week is a break before the next three month syllabus starts, so we did a lot of game type things instead of more serious form work & so on. Fun, but also a way of learning some important concepts.
