Been absolutely pissing down with rain all day. Blah.
Sinusitis seems to have got a lot better. Still have a slight headache on & off, but quite mild compared to what it was like up ’till Mon & Tues! Looks like the drugs are certainly working.
Work: Forgot to mention, did end up lodging an appeal against the Verbal Warning, Friday last week, literally just within the 7 day deadline. Long & detailed 3 page letter for the MD & CEO. Then had a chat with the MD that afternoon. He said he won’t overturn it, but he explained it all a bit more, & the reasoning, & it doesn’t now seem quite so bad. He said not to worry about it, & to look at it as a galvanising type thing. From what he said, although I made a very good rebuttal of most of the specific complaint about my performance the previous week, seems it wasn’t really just for that week itself, that was just an example. Seems I need to work on my communication skills more. Although my work is good, & he & they are often impressed, I have a tendancy to just get on with things, & not update my manager often enough with what’s happening, which isn’t really very good when things don’t work or fall behind for other reasons unrelated to myself – so if I don’t let them know what’s going on, they don’t realise things have fallen back, & then when they do find out they can think it’s down to me being slow when it isn’t, simply ‘cos I didn’t give enough updates. Hmm. Guess that makes sense. I’ll just have to be more active with the communication in future.
Anyway.
Ben, one of my oldest friends, and also a former housemate, moved to London a few weeks ago. So, last Saturday, me, LLoyd, & Tim H went to London to visit Ben & see his new flat, somewhere in Fulham. Graham was also back from Italy that weekend, so he came too, which was good as none of us have seen him for a few months now. Quite a good turn out, & quite a nice flat. Had a fun afternoon & evening, with a barbeque.
Back to this week. Erm.
Skipped WingTsun on Monday & Tuesday ‘cos of the sinusitis, & missed it on Wednesday as I was out. Went Thursday instead. It wasn’t as energetic as usual, which was good, as I’m still recovering from the sinus thing. Did some more siu-ni-tao stuff, & learnt a bit more of that.
Out later tonight, with work people. Just off to the Avery (used to be the Hogshead), should be OK.
Haven’t seen Revenge of the Sith yet. Prob try & see it next weekend.
