…since Kathryn ended it, and on Christmas Day, Sat 25th, it shall be two whole calendar months.
It is getting better. I’m not as bad as I was in my last two entries about all this, back at the very end of November. Still hurts, but not as much. Still think about it, about her, but it is slowly getting easier.
So…what have I done with myself in the last couple of weeks?
Well, I’ve gone out a lot, & spent too much money, for one thing.
Week before last, was out with Ben & LLoyd on Tuesday night, out with work people on Wednesday night, & then went to London on the Thursday evening for Malcolm’s funeral (which was the following day). It was good seeing my cousins & Aunt again, & other people I’ve not seen in bloody ages. Obviously would have been better to have had a reunion for less horrible reasons though. The funeral service was sad, of course, but it was well done, & the wake was good.
Came back to Cambridge on the Friday afternoon, & went out Friday night for my work’s Christmas party. Very good night, lots of free booze & food, lots of fun. Felt quite down at times though, as it was the 1st one I’ve been to in 3 years without Kathryn.
Stayed in on the Saturday night, to try & save money, but then ended up going to Mickey Flynn’s with Tom & his mate Alex on the Sunday afternoon, so spent lots there (beer, pool).
Was out in Walden on Monday night at the start of this week, for Graham’s birthday. Good night out, & kind of like old times, with me, Ben, Graham, Rob, Tim H all in the pub.
Out for a curry with Ben, Rich, & LLoyd on the Tuesday night, to the excellent Saffron Brasserie.
Didn’t go out on Wednesday night, but was out on Thursday night for a workmate’s “leaving do” thing. Spent three fun hours in the “B Bar”, & got quite pissed, then a few of us went to the “Fez Club”, which wasn’t so great (I hate clubs).
Out again on Friday night, with Ben, Rich, Karen & some of Rich’s friends from uni.
Went into town with Ben on Sat afternoon, & stayed in on Sat night.
Not done much today, apart from watch “Die Hard” in the lounge with Ben & Tom.
Back to work tomorrow, but only working for three days next week. I’ve used up the last of my holiday to take Thursday 23rd & Friday 24th off. Work doesn’t start up again until Tuesday 4th Jan, so I’ll have about a week & a half off work. Nice, but lonely. No Kathryn for Christmas & New Year, unlike ’02 & ’03, which is really really going to fucking suck. Won’t see my parents over Christmas, as they’re going to my mum’s brother’s for the week, & most of my friends & housemates will all be off with family etc.
Fucking Christmas.
