This week

I’ve been totally & utterly knackered this week. Agh. My own fault, though. I should go to bed earlier.

I viewed two potential places to move to this week.

The first, on Wednesday evening, was a room in a 3 bedroom flat on Parkside. Lovely place. It was in high demand though, & I got an email on Thursday saying it went to someone else :(

The second, on Thursday evening, was a fairly decent sized room in a house in Coldhams Lane (actually just a few doors along from the other house my current landlord owns & is going to rent out). Not too bad, but no way as good as the place on Parkside. Got shown around by the guy who’s room it is currently (he’s moving out in a few weeks). One thing that made me a bit unsure about it was that he happened to mention that the guy who owns the house doesn’t get the tennants to sign a contract or anything, & just takes rent in cash each month. Sounds a bit dodgy…OK, it gives the freedom to leave whenever, as you’re not tied to a contract, but it also presumably means the landlord is free to kick you out whenever he wants for no reason, & free to increase the rent (I dunno…not sure what rights you have if you live somewhere without a written tennancy agreement).

Off to London Saturday afternoon, to see an old friend from University who I haven’t seen in a couple of years.
